Blessed are the Merciful

Thanks to the wonderful churches in St. Johns who are among the merciful!  Those who assist the homeless, serve the poor, give clothing to the naked, feed the hungry, house those without support networks, welcome the friendless, support the fainting, who create community for those who have no one.

You are the heart, the salt and light of St. Johns!

Baptism and Revival Services

Bishop Stewart Minnieweather would like to hold a baptism service and would be eager to join with others for a collaborative service. If you would like to plan or participate in a joint baptism service, contact him at bishopstewart8138@gmail.com or by phone 503.847.3345.

Portland Miracle Revival Church, led by Bishop Walter and Pastor Doris Scott, is hosting a city-wide revival next week. The Scotts have hosted many Revivals in the past, usually in a large tent. They still have the tent, but having an event in Portland can mean adapting to the Portland climate, so it's indoor this time, with lots of room for everyone!

Trash 2 Treasure Event

Swapnplay Community Sharing Director Dre Davey writes:

"I am the director of a St Johns non-profit, Swapnplay Community Sharing. It is part of Swapnplay's mission to promote sharing and provide a large scale community event that supports building community through sharing. We do this through hosting an annual event called Trash to Treasure (T2T), held at Red Sea Church annually the Saturday after Earth Day.

In years past Red Sea has partnered with the event in a very tangible way. The church has provided food around lunchtime and served the food to our neighbors coming to the event. This year due to limited resources they are unable to participate in this way. The food aspect creates a very special hospitality to the event that people really love. Just last week I was talking with James, who works at the Goodwill donation truck on Ivanhoe, and he was asking when the event was and going on about how the meal aspect really provides community connections.

Would the church of North Portland please consider filling this piece of our partnerships? This year Trash to Treasure is on April 27. If you would consider this at all I would love to meet with you in person to fill in the details of what that would even mean."

Learn more about T2T by watching this short video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rcuQNz7pM"

It would be great to have 2-3 people meet with Dre to lead the effort. For more information or to spearhead, contact dre@swapnplay.org or phone 503.544.3996

Lombard Reimagined

Celebration Tabernacle is hosting a meeting regarding the improvement of Lombard Street. The project area is a 2-mile stretch of Lombard between MLK Jr. Blvd and N. Chautauqua Blvd. Swift Planning Group, from January to June 2013, has partnered with the Kenton Neighborhood Association and other stakeholders to work toward creating a better Lombard Street, which includes working with the local community to develop a vision for Lombard, focusing on how it can become a more walk-able place with a unique identity that better serves the needs and wants of all of its neighbors.

Also, they've just released a survey they're trying to get out to as many North Portland residents and business owners as possible. Everyone who takes it is eligible to win a gift certificate from a local business! Please stop by their website and take a look if you've got a moment, and please forward it to anyone and everyone who you think might be interested as well: http://www.lombardreimagined.com/
