Transformational Living Community

"As a Christ centered association, Transformational Living Community (TLC) plans to support temporarily homeless families. We will build on the strengths families already have by providing housing, classes, resources and mentoring that will help parents to hold a job, manage finances, steer clear of addictions, develop positive relationships, grow in parenting skills, and make healthy life choices, all in the context of Christian community."

Used Stuff Make Good

One person's junk is another one's treasure.

SCRAP:

SCRAP takes donations of used... whatever. Cloth, office supplies, art supplies, medicine canisters, boxes. glass... pretty much anything. Then they organize it and sell it one the cheap-- some items are only pennies. What could anyone do with this stuff? For the most part, make art! All over, they have examples of how junk can be turned into beautiful art. In fact, they have a studio which has wonderful pieces of art for sale lovingly made from SCRAP junk.

And if you happened to be looking for a notebook to keep papers in or cloth or knitting supplies, SCRAP has that as well. Check it out!
SCRAP is located at 2915 NE Martin Luther King Blvd. SCRAP's website.

The Rebuilding Center:

Have you ever been tempted to go through a house that has recently been condemned to get all the decent stuff out of it? The doors, the hinges, the cabinets, the lighting, the plumbing?

Well, that's what the Rebuilding Center folks do all the time. They take the most usable items, and sell it at their store for dirt cheap prices. Honestly, this is a handyman's or handywoman's dream. If you do any kind of building or restoration, you owe it to yourself to check out their warehouse-sized store.

The Rebuilding Center is located at 3625 N. Mississippi Ave Portland. The Rebuilding Center's website.
